Basketball Recap: Marsh Valley Comes Up Short

Marsh Valley was the 49-45 winner over American Falls when they last played one another back in February of 2025, but their luck changed this time around. The Eagles were just a bucket shy of victory on Thursday and fell 62-61 to the Beavers.

When it comes to explaining why Marsh Valley lost, don't look at Jaxson Smith. Despite the final result, he shot 47% from the field en route to 20 points and six rebounds. The matchup was Smith's fourth in a row with at least 19 points. Another player making a difference was Nash Guthrie, who went 7-for-15 on his way to 19 points and six boards.

Marsh Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 11-5. As for American Falls, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-3.

Coincidentally, Marsh Valley and American Falls will both be playing Bear Lake the next time they take the court. The Beavers will host the Bears at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, while the Eagles will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
