Basketball Game Preview: St. Raphael Academy Saints vs. West Warwick Wizards

Two dominant guards in Vanessa Piscione and Brea Lima are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The St. Raphael Academy Saints will venture away from home to challenge the West Warwick Wizards at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday. St. Raphael Academy is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.

While St. Raphael Academy didn't have the best season last year (they finished 2-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with a 46-38 victory over Chariho on Tuesday.

Piscione was her usual excellent self, putting up 28 points. The match was her third in a row with at least ten points. Stephanie Sassi was another key player, posting six points.

Meanwhile, West Warwick faced East Providence in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. West Warwick secured a 46-41 W over East Providence. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wizards.

West Warwick is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.2 points per game. As for St. Raphael Academy, their record now sits at 6-3.

St. Raphael Academy strolled past West Warwick when the teams last played last Monday by a score of 72-55. The rematch might be a little tougher for St. Raphael Academy since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
