The Mountain View Toros will challenge the Basha Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Basha took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Mountain View, who comes in off a win.
Mountain View hadn't beaten Mesa on the road since September 21, 2023 but that history sure didn't bother them on Wednesday. The Toros put the hurt on the Jackrabbits with a sharp 3-0 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Toros have posted against the Jackrabbits since October 17, 2023.
Mountain View never let Mesa on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-23, 25-16.
Meanwhile, Basha faced Hamilton in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Bears came up short against the Huskies, falling 3-0.
The final score came out to 25-23, 25-23, 25-13.
Mountain View will need to focus on slowing down Chelsea Mayhead, one of several Basha players who made an impact when they last played. She had four digs and two aces.
Basha's defeat dropped their record down to 19-14. As for Mountain View, their win bumped their record up to 16-12.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's match: Mountain View hasn't let much over the net this season, having averaged 6.4 blocks per game. It's a different story for Basha, though, as they've been averaging only 0.8 blocks. Given Mountain View's sizable advantage in that area, the Bears will need to find a way to close that gap.
