Baseball Recap: Barbourville Tigers vs. Knox Central Panthers

Barbourville had lost seven straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 14-14 to make it eight. They came up short against the Knox Central Panthers, falling 12-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-0 back in April.

Caiden Miracle made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.

As for Knox Central, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 11-11. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won seven games by nine runs or more so far this season.

On Knox Central's side, Grant Miller tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk).

On the hitting side, Knox Central got a massive performance out of Hayden Melton, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one double. That's the most stolen bases Melton has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Waylon Frazier, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

As of now, neither Barbourville nor Knox Central have any future games scheduled.
