Softball Recap: Western Starts off Right with Win over Valley

Western took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Monday. Everything went their way against the Valley Vikings as the Western Warriors made off with a 17-6 victory. This was payback for the Warriors, who suffered a 22-20 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Western let Natalie Tapia and Sadiyyah Washington run wild. Tapia scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-3, while Washington scored four runs and stole Five bases. while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Autumn Young, who scored two runs and stole Four bases. while going 1-for-2.

Western always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .733. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.

Looking ahead, Western is packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game this season: they will take on The Meadows School at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Valley, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Cheyenne at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. This will be Valley's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
