Football Recap: Salesian Skates Past St. Anthony with Ease

Salesian barely beat St. Anthony the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Mustangs blew past the Saints 40-0 on Friday. The Mustangs' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.

J'Anthony Cobb was his usual excellent self, rushing for 122 yards and three scores on only five carries, while also picking up 74 receiving yards and one touchdown. His longest rush was for an incredible 71 yards. Donovan Shirley was another key player, throwing for 262 yards and three TDs while completing 78.6% of his passes.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Salesian was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 255 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in August.

Salesian's record is now 6-3. As for St. Anthony, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Salesian will take on La Salle at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 1,153 yards in their previous games. As for St. Anthony, they will square off against Harvard-Westlake at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Saints will be up against the Wolverines' rather soft defense (which has allowed 27.13 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
