The Cedar Ridge Fighting Red Wolves will venture away from home to take on the Person Rockets at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cedar Ridge is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.
Last Thursday, everything went Cedar Ridge's way against Cardinal Gibbons as Cedar Ridge made off with a 13-2 victory. The Fighting Red Wolves haven't had any issues with the Crusaders recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Charlotte Lowry made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Lowry was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Cedar Ridge let Reagan Simmons and Mia Best run wild. Simmons scored two runs while going 2-for-4, while Best scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Brittani Goddard also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Cedar Ridge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last game, Person made sure to put some runs up on the board against Northern Durham on Friday. Person had just enough and edged out Northern Durham 13-11. The Rockets' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
The team relied heavily on Kenzley Horne, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Camryn Clarke, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4.
The victory got Cedar Ridge back to even at 2-2. As for Person, their win ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Cedar Ridge has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Person struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Cedar Ridge came out on top in a nail-biter against Person when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 8-6. Does Cedar Ridge have another victory up their sleeve, or will Person turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
