Baseball Game Preview: Manistee Mariners vs. Hesperia Panthers

The Manistee Mariners will face off against the Hesperia Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Manistee will be strutting in after a win while Hesperia will be coming in after a defeat.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, Manistee turned things around against Manton on Friday. They came out on top against the Rangers by a score of 7-3.

Braylen Zimmerman spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on five hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Eli Workman, who earned one RBI, one run, and two stolen bases. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Landin Sowa, who earned two runs and two stolen bases.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Hesperia's offense. They came up short against North Muskegon on Friday, falling 10-0. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Norsemen recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Hesperia's defeat dropped their record down to 7-14. As for Manistee, their victory bumped their record up to 10-14.

Manistee took their win against Hesperia in their previous meeting back in April of 2023 by a conclusive 16-2 score. Do the Mariners have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
