Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Linden walked away with it. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over the Union Mine Diamondbacks on Tuesday. The win was nothing new for the Lions as they're now sitting on 15 straight.

Matthew Schallberger made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Linden let Braden Busalacchi and Sebastian Trujillo run wild. Busalacchi went 1-for-3 with one home run, while Trujillo went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave Trujillo a new career-high.

Linden lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Linden pushed their record up to 22-4 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Union Mine, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-14.

Looking ahead, Linden will square off against Woodland at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Lions' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wolves have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season. Union Mine does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
