Basketball Recap: Wissahickon Skates Past Central with Ease

There's no place like home for Wissahickon, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They blew past the Central Lancers 58-24 on Saturday. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 258th, while the Lancers are ranked 656th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Despite the loss, Central still got an impressive performance from Yamir Knight-Parker, who posted 11 points and three blocks. That was a full 45.8% of Central's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's put up more than a third of the team's points. Andre Martinez was another key player, putting up six points and six rebounds.

Wissahickon's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-8. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.3 points per game. As for Central, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season.

Wissahickon wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 68-33 defeat against Upper Dublin on the 21st. As for Central, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 60-45 victory against Freire Charter on the 20th.
