Baseball Game Preview: Leake Academy Rebels vs. Lamar Raiders

For the second straight game, Leake Academy will face off against Lamar. The Rebels will square off against the Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.

Leake Academy came up short against Lamar on Thursday, falling 11-1.

For Lamar's part, Jackson Whitcomb was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Whitcomb was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs, eight RBI, and one double while going 3-for-4. Those eight RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Ty Wiggins was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season. Sullivan Reed was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Lamar has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches. That lines up perfectly with their 17-5-2 record this season. As for Leake Academy, they dropped their record down to 5-5 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.
