Riverside hasn't had much luck against Atlantic Coast recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Riverside Generals will head out on the road to square off against the Atlantic Coast Stingrays at 6:30 p.m. Riverside will be strutting in after a victory while Atlantic Coast will be coming in after a loss.
Having struggled with seven defeats in a row dating back to last season, Riverside turned things around against Westside on Tuesday. They blew past the Wolverines 17-2. The Generals not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 26, 2024.
Josh Skipper made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits (and only one walk). Skipper was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Those hits were his first of the season.
In other batting news, Adrian Gonzalez was a standout: he scored a run and stole Six bases. while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 2 stolen bases per game. Angelo Frazier was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing Four bases. while going 3-for-3.
Riverside always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .711. The last time their OBP was this high was back in February of 2024.
Meanwhile, Atlantic Coast suffered their biggest loss since April 9, 2024 on Saturday. They came up short against Camden County, falling 17-7.
Noah Prudencio made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Delvin Haskell, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Riverside's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-6. As for Atlantic Coast, they now have a losing record of 3-4.
Riverside was able to grind out a solid victory over Atlantic Coast in their previous matchup back in March of 2022, winning 5-2. Will Riverside repeat their success, or does Atlantic Coast have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
