Softball Game Preview: Springfield Wildcats vs. Northmont Thunderbolts

Springfield hasn't had much luck against Northmont recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Wildcats will head out on the road to take on the Thunderbolts at 5:00 p.m. Springfield will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.

On Wednesday, Springfield came up short against Centerville and fell 9-5.

Springfield saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brianna Jones, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Maiya Nicewaner also deserves some recognition as she got her first hits of the season.

Northmont not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 3, 2024. They blew past Beavercreek 15-7. Winning may never get old, but the Thunderbolts sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Springfield now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Northmont, the win got them back to even at 4-4.

Springfield might still be hurting after the 9-0 defeat they got from Northmont in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
