Baseball Recap: Scituate Beats Providence Country Day for Their Third Straight Win

Scituate had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They came out on top against the Providence Country Day Knights by a score of 4-1. That's more bragging rights for the Spartans, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Travis Howman was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 16 over seven innings pitched. Scituate is undefeated when Howman posts ten or more strikeouts, but 2-3 otherwise. Howman was also big at the plate, earning one run and two stolen bases. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Paul Zolkos was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Scituate's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-3 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Jackson Scanlon, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Scituate's record is now 5-3. As for Providence Country Day, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.
