Baseball Game Preview: Tipton Tigers vs. Durant Wildcats

For the second straight game, Tipton will face off against Durant. The Tigers will welcome the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

It was a proper cat-fight when Tipton faced off against Durant on Monday. The Tigers fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 6-5.

For Durant's part, Seamus Devine made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Devine has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

Devine wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Owen Collier, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

The win (which was Durant's fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-4. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Tipton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.
