Football Recap: Cesar Chavez Takes a Loss

Cesar Chavez had lost four straight at home, but on Friday they dropped down to 1-7 to make it five. They took a blow against the Chandler Wolves, falling 49-7. The Champions were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-7.

Emmanuel Hernandez threw for 54 yards on nine of 21 attempts. Ronald Brassfield was his top target, picking up 27 receiving yards. On the ground, Malique Sha rushed for 47 yards and one touchdown.

As for Chandler, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-1. The result was nothing new for the Wolves, who have now won five contests by 20 points or more so far this season.

Will Mencl was his usual excellent self, throwing for 321 yards and four TDs while completing 75% of his passes. He is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in each of the last four games he's played. Chandler's leading receiver Jai Jones was Mencl's top target yet again, picking up 86 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Cesar Chavez wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 63-0 loss against Hamilton on the 30th. As for Chandler, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 28-22 win against Pinnacle on the 31st.
