Turner is 9-1 against Clinton since May of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Trojans will look to defend their home field against the Cougars at 5:00 p.m. Turner is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last 12 games.
Turner had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Evansville on Tuesday. The Trojans were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Blue Devils. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by six runs or more this season.
Maddyn Saunders spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Genna Brown, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Autumn Meris, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Turner kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Clinton lost a heartbreaker to Brodhead when they met back in April of 2024, and they left with a heavy heart again on Tuesday. The Cougars wound up with the same score they had in their last game (3-1), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. They haven't had much luck with the Cardinals recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.
Maycee Morris was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.
Turner's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. As for Clinton, their loss dropped their record down to 11-7.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Turner has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Clinton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Turner skirted past Clinton 3-1 in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Will the Trojans repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
