Volleyball Preview: Aynor Blue Jackets vs. Georgetown Bulldogs
Aynor has been on the road for five straight, but on Wednesday they'll finally head home. After both having extra time off, they and the Georgetown Bulldogs will shake off the cobwebs and square off against one another at 6:00 p.m. Georgetown took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Aynor, who comes in off a win.
Having struggled with six losses in a row, Aynor finally turned things around against Waccamaw on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 3-0 victory.
One reason for the win was Aynor's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. The match finished with set scores of 27-25, 25-19, 25-13.
Aynor got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Hannah Lewis out in front who had 20 digs. The team also got some help courtesy of Alaina Brown, who had 18 digs.
Aynor kept the net locked down and finished the game with 15 blocks. That's the most blocks they've posted since back in October of 2023.
Meanwhile, Georgetown was not able to break out of their rough patch two weeks ago as the team picked up their 13th straight defeat. They fell just short of Andrews by a score of 2-1.
Georgetown actually scored more points across those three sets (57-56), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 16-25, 15-11.
The victory got Aynor back to even at 14-14. As for Georgetown, their loss dropped their record down to 1-15.
Everything went Aynor's way against Georgetown when the teams last played on October 1st, as Aynor made off with a 3-0 win. Will Aynor repeat their success, or does Georgetown have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
