Softball Recap: Whippany Park Victorious

Whippany Park won the last time they faced Bayonne and things went their way on Monday too. The Wildcats came out on top in a nail-biter against the Bees, sneaking past 3-2.

Kiera Swartz was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-1. That stolen base was her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Daniella Iellimo, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

Whippany Park now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Bayonne, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.

Looking ahead, Whippany Park will face off against Hanover Park at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Bayonne, they will head out to challenge Hoboken at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
