Burleson had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They put the hurt on the Cleburne Yellowjackets with a sharp 11-2 win. The Elks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by six runs or more this season.
Taylor Crumby made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.
In other batting news, Burleson got a massive performance out of Lola Andrews, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that Andrews hit this season. Another player making a difference was Addy Sellers, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Burleson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .432. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cleburne only posted a batting average of .192.
Burleson pushed their record up to 12-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games. As for Cleburne, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-15-2.
