Basketball Recap: Jerzee Hart's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Roy over Woods Cross

Roy fought the good fight in their overtime match against Woods Cross on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Woods Cross Wildcats 40-36. The Royals were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Several Royals players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jerzee Hart, who posted six points and 15 boards. With that strong performance, Hart is now averaging an impressive 8.3 rebounds per game. Another player making a difference was Jazzi Prieto, who went 5 of 11 on her way to 12 points and six boards.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Woods Cross to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ili Crockett, who earned 11 points in addition to eight rebounds and six steals. The dominant performance gave Crockett a new career-high in steals. Kaylee Abell also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

This is the second loss in a row for Roy and nudges their season record down to 4-9. As for Woods Cross, their record now sits at 9-5.

Roy has already played their next game, a 59-23 loss against Bountiful on the 17th. As for Woods Cross, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 50-40 win against Northridge on the 17th.
