Basketball Recap: Rakhiya Moody's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Richton over Jefferson Davis County

On Friday, the Richton Rebels came up short against the Jefferson Davis County Jaguars and fell 61-54. The Rebels have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Richton's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rakhiya Moody, who went 8 of 14 on her way to 22 points along with five boards and three steals. Those 22 points gave Moody a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Dherria Barlow, who posted nine points.

Richton's defeat dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Jefferson Davis County, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season.

Richton will face off against Mize at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Jefferson Davis County, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 59-46 victory against Greenville on the 28th.
