Softball Game Preview: Seneca Valley Raiders vs. Pine-Richland Rams

The Seneca Valley Raiders will face off against the Pine-Richland Rams at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Seneca Valley will come into the game with an undefeated record on the line.

Seneca Valley had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Canon-McMillan on Wednesday. The Raiders were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Big Macs. Considering the Raiders have won three matchups by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Lexie Hames made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 15 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run.

In other batting news, Seneca Valley got a big performance out of Liv Herrem, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Bella Gross was another key player, scoring two runs while going 4-for-4.

Meanwhile, Pine-Richland didn't have quite enough to beat Canon-McMillan on Friday and fell 7-6. The Rams have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Seneca Valley pushed their record up to 9-0 with the win, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Pine-Richland, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.

Everything went Seneca Valley's way against Pine-Richland in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Seneca Valley made off with a 22-3 win. Do the Raiders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rams turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
