Basketball Recap: Lakewood Rangers vs. Rocky River Pirates
Lakewood lost against Rocky River back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Lakewood Rangers fell 40-27 to the Rocky River Pirates. While losing is never fun, the Rangers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 378th, while the Pirates are ranked 116th).
Rocky River's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Olivia Dewey led the charge by putting up eight points and six steals. Dewey has been hot, having posted three or more steals the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Elizabeth Lang, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 16 rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Lakewood and nudges their season record down to 7-12. As for Rocky River, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 16-4.

Lakewood is facing Valley Forge at the right time seeing as Valley Forge is stuck on a 19-game losing streak. As for Rocky River, they will take on North Olmsted at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. The timing is sure in Rocky River's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while North Olmsted has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
