Softball Recap: Sullivan County Continues Road Dominance on Tuesday

Sullivan County had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 17-run drubbing they dealt Benton on Tuesday. The Griffins never let the Tigers get on the board and left with a 17-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Griffins, who have now won seven contests by 11 runs or more so far this season.

Sullivan County got a massive performance out of Mariah Hallabuk, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases Hallabuk has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Charley Insinger, who went 1-for-4 with five RBI and two runs.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Sullivan County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive matchups.

Sullivan County's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-3. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Benton, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season.

Coincidentally, Sullivan County and Benton will both be playing Columbia Montour Vo-Tech the next time they take the field. The Griffins will head out to face the Rams at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Tigers will head out to face them at 4:30 p.m. on the 7th.
