Baseball Recap: Darlington Takes a Loss

Darlington was the 4-1 winner over Lakewood when they last played one another back in March of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Darlington Falcons fell just short of the Lakewood Gators by a score of 5-4 on Wednesday. The Falcons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Shane Oliver and Ryder Morgan stepped up to the plate in a big way. Oliver scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Morgan scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Miguel Garcia also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Darlington's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Lakewood, their victory ended a 12-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-6.

While Darlington had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
