Basketball Recap: Gray's Creek Victorious

Gray's Creek hadn't done well against Cape Fear recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Gray's Creek Bears managed a 55-51 win over the Cape Fear Colts. For the Bears, this counts as revenge for the 75-45 victory the Colts walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Cape Fear lost, don't look at Shanel Sutton. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 24 points and 13 rebounds. Sutton is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Keyana Gage was another key player, putting up two points and eight boards.

Gray's Creek is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.3 points per game. As for Cape Fear, they now have a losing record at 8-9.
