Baseball Recap: Unionville Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Downingtown West, Unionville was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Oxford Hornets by a score of 8-4. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 4-0 back in March.

Nick Rassias spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jake Wilson, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Nate Bonsall, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs.

The win snapped Unionville's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 6-9 record. As for Oxford, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Unionville will host Phoenixville at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Oxford, they will be playing at home against Faith Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
