Football Recap: Oakton Cougars vs. Colonial Forge Eagles
After flying high against Woodson last Friday, Oakton came back down to earth. The Cougars were dealt a 42-14 loss at the hands of the Colonial Forge Eagles on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 153rd, while the Eagles are ranked ninth).
Despite the loss, Oakton still got an impressive performance from Jack Martin, who threw for 263 yards and two TDs, and also rushed for 55 yards.
A big part of Colonial Forge's win came down to the chemistry between Brock Brimhall and his top target Landon Sharpe. Brimhall threw for 197 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 76.9% of his passes while Sharpe rushed for 143 yards and two scores while picking up 8.9 yards per carry.
Having lost for the first time this season, Oakton fell to 3-1. As for Colonial Forge, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Oakton will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Langley at 7:00 p.m. on October 3. As for Colonial Forge, they will be playing in front of their home fans against North Stafford at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles will need to watch out since the Wolverines have now posted at least 31 points in their last three games.
