Softball Recap: Monroe Comes Up Short

Monroe lost against Hickory Grove Christian back in February, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Redhawks lost 24-3 to the Lions. The Redhawks just can't catch a break and have now endured ten defeats in a row.

Monroe saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Vania Stevenson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Stevenson is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Sade' Robinson also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Monroe's loss dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Hickory Grove Christian, with the victory, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-6.

Monroe didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 18-0 defeat against Piedmont on the 27th. As for Hickory Grove Christian, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Concord Academy at 4:30 p.m. on the 8th. The Lions are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
