Basketball Recap: Permian Comes Up Short

It was a good run, but Permian unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Friday. They took a blow against the College Park Cavaliers, falling 74-44. The Panthers lost against the Cavaliers in their previous head to head back in December of 2016, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 55-53 score last time.

It was another big night for Aiden Buckmon, who went 6 for 15 on his way to 19 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals for College Park. Buckmon's morning made it eight games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Oman, who posted six points in addition to seven boards and five assists.

Permian's loss dropped their record down to 14-5. As for College Park, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.

Permian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, an 80-51 win against Waco on the 28th. As for College Park, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 74-60 victory against University on the 27th.
