Baseball Game Preview: Bellbrook Golden Eagles vs. Wayne Warriors

The Bellbrook Golden Eagles will challenge the Wayne Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

On Friday, Bellbrook made easy work of Shawnee and carried off a 13-1 win. The Golden Eagles have beaten the Braves the last six times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Braves has come to flipping the script.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wayne). Their pitcher stepped up to hand Greenville a 10-0 shutout on Friday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Warriors as it put an end to their seven-game losing streak.

Peyton Tengesdahl made a splash while hitting and pitching. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Wayne is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-15 otherwise. Tengesdahl was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Xavier Hargrave was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Peyton Anderson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Wayne always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Bellbrook's win bumped their record up to 8-9. As for Wayne, their victory bumped their record up to 4-15.

Bellbrook beat Wayne 9-4 in their previous meeting back in May of 2021. Will the Golden Eagles repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
