Baseball Game Preview: Knightdale Knights vs. East Wake Academy Eagles

Knightdale is 0-3 against East Wake Academy since March of 2024 but things could change on Thursday. The Knights will take on the Eagles at 6:30 p.m. Knightdale has given up an average of 10.1 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Knightdale is headed into Thursday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Monday. They lost 13-3 to East Wake Academy.

For East Wake Academy's part, Robbie Johnston looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. Johnston has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Dylan Palmer was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. He has become a key player for East Wake Academy: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-2 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Weston Dixon, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run.

The win (which was East Wake Academy's fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Knightdale, their loss dropped their record down to 4-9.
