Football Recap: Meridian Triumphs

Meridian was handed a 38-point defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Friday. They skirted past the Columbus Falcons 21-19. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Wildcats' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi football rankings (they are ranked 35th, while the Falcons are ranked 121st).

Meridian's victory ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-2. As for Columbus, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Meridian will head out to challenge Hattiesburg at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Columbus, they will venture away from home to square off against Neshoba Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Falcons will be up against the Rockets' rather soft defense (which has allowed 37.25 points per match), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
