Baseball Recap: Waynesburg Central's Loss Ends Six-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Waynesburg Central fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Charleroi on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 2-1. The Raiders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2022.

Waynesburg Central saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alex VanSickle, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Waynesburg Central's defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 14-3. As for Charleroi, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-5.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Waynesburg Central beat the Cougars by a score of 11-2 on Wednesday.
