Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Amaris Biancuzzo and Isabella Webb Lead Mica Mountain to Victory

Mica Mountain won the last time they faced Ironwood Ridge and things went their way on Friday too. The Mica Mountain Thunderbolts enjoyed a cozy 55-41 victory over the Ironwood Ridge Nighthawks. That's two games straight that the Thunderbolts have won by exactly 14 points.

Mica Mountain was led to victory by Isabella Webb and Amaris Biancuzzo. Webb went 6-for-11 en route to 18 points along with eight boards and five assists, while Biancuzzo dropped a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. What's more, Webb also posted a 60% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's achieved since back in December of 2024. Ceraya Grace-Bandy was another key player, putting up nine points.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Mica Mountain was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in four consecutive matches.

Ironwood Ridge's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Amina Rustempasic, who posted ten points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Molly Walter, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 15 rebounds.

Mica Mountain is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season. As for Ironwood Ridge, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-15.

Mica Mountain has already played their next contest, a 58-41 win against Sahuaro on the 11th. As for Ironwood Ridge, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 47-29 defeat against Rincon/University on the 10th.
