Newport Harbor hadn't done well against Torrey Pines recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Sailors came out on top against the Falcons by a score of 2-0. This was a revenge game for the Sailors: when they faced off against the Falcons on Friday, they had to take a 2-1 defeat.

Torrey Pines' loss came despite strong showings from Griffin Dieter and Zach Lau. Dieter had 13 digs and one assist, while Lau had 18 assists and seven digs. Dieter is on a roll when it comes to digs, as he's now had 11 or more in each of the last seven games he's played.

Newport Harbor is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-10 record this season. As for Torrey Pines, they moved to 21-5 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Coming up, Newport Harbor will be playing in front of their home fans against Los Alamitos at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Torrey Pines, they are taking a road trip to challenge Carlsbad at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lancers will roll in looking for their 14th straight victory, something the Falcons surely won't give up without a fight.
