Volleyball Game Preview: Academy at Palumbo Griffin vs. Lower Merion Aces

Academy at Palumbo has won seven straight games at home, while Lower Merion has won seven straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Griffin will host the Aces at 3:15 p.m. Lower Merion took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Academy at Palumbo, who comes in off a win.

Academy at Palumbo barely beat Central the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Griffin blew past the Lancers 3-0 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Griffin have posted against the Lancers since March 23, 2021.

Meanwhile, Lower Merion unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-match winning streak on Wednesday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Marple Newtown.

While Lower Merion ultimately came up short, they really made Marple Newtown work, particularly in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 26-24, 13-25, 25-22.

Lower Merion now has a losing record of 10-11. As for Academy at Palumbo, their win bumped their record up to 12-2.

Academy at Palumbo couldn't quite get it done against Lower Merion in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 as they fell 3-1. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Aces' Josephine Huh, who had 17 digs and four assists. Now that the Griffin know the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
