Baseball Recap: Holtville Comes Up Short

Holtville extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 6-20 in the process. They fell 4-0 to the Imperial Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-6 back in March.

Holtville saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zavien Aguirre, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

As for Imperial, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-11. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games.

On Imperial's side, Carter Tucker was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 13 over six innings pitched. Tucker has been consistent for a while: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, earning three runs and three stolen bases. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Julian Jimenez, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Higginbotham, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Holtville beat Imperial by a score of 1-0 on Thursday.
