Softball Recap: Homer-Center Wins Going Away Against United

While Homer-Center put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for United. Homer-Center was the clear victor by a 20-0 margin over United. That's more bragging rights for the Wildcats, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Bekah Marshall was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. What's more, she gave up only one walk, the fewest she's had since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Kyhlee Beer was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Ava King was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

The win made it two in a row for Homer-Center and bumps their season record up to 2-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for United, their defeat was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Homer-Center will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Purchase Line at 4:30 p.m. on April 8. As for United, a feisty cat fight will be fought as United Lions duke it out with River Valley Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
