Softball Recap: Fergus Has No Trouble Against Custer County

Fergus got themselves on the board against Custer County on Tuesday, but Custer County never followed suit. They blew past the Cowboys 16-0. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Golden Eagles also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2021.

KAYLA JENSEN looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on KLOE SOUTHWORTH, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with six RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Another player making a difference was ANNA ELAM, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Fergus always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Custer County only posted an OBP of .308.

The victory made it two in a row for Fergus and bumps their season record up to 2-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.5 runs over those games. As for Custer County, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.

Looking ahead, Fergus will square off against East Helena at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Golden Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Vigilantes have averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season. As for Custer County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Dawson County at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
