Basketball Game Preview: West Field Longhorns vs. Bear River Bears

The West Field Longhorns are taking a road trip to face off against the Bear River Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

On Tuesday, West Field came up short against Green Canyon and fell 55-47. While the Longhorns didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Wolves 10-5 in the first quarter.

Despite their loss, West Field saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Canyon Britt, who posted 18 points and three steals, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Jalyn Coombs, who put up 13 points.

Meanwhile, Bear River played a tough game on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by Ridgeline and fell 69-22. The contest marked the Bears' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Aubree Fry was Bear River's leading scorer, having posted eight points. Fry also led the team in assists with two. Shelby Wilkinson held things down on the boards with four rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Bear River and nudges their season record down to 2-12. As for West Field, they dropped their record down to 4-11 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight at home.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: West Field has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 26 rebounds per game.
