Softball Recap: Ichabod Crane Takes a Loss

The Ichabod Crane Riders came up short against the Averill Park Warriors on Wednesday and fell 5-1. The contest marked the Riders' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Torri Cutler spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ichabod Crane saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Skylar Konkle, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Ichabod Crane's loss dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Averill Park, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-5.

Ichabod Crane and Averill Park should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps New York Rankings. The Riders will challenge Voorheesville at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (69 vs. 382). Meanwhile, Averill Park (ranked 23rd) will meet Albany (ranked 322nd) at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
