Baseball Recap: Dr. Phillips Takes a Loss

Dr. Phillips fell victim to Lake Minneola and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They came up short against the Hawks, falling 9-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Panthers of the 6-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Dr. Phillips got a good showing from Marshall Guin, who pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. The dominant performance also gave Guin a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

This is the second loss in a row for Dr. Phillips and nudges their season record down to 9-11. As for Lake Minneola, they pushed their record up to 12-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Dr. Phillips will challenge Orangewood Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Lake Minneola, it'll be a Battle of the Birds when Lake Minneola Hawks face off against South Lake Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
