League recap: Temple stuns Chattahoochee County in upset

AA Region 5 recap November 13, 2013

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Temple, who took down 399th ranked Chattahoochee County, 41-12. Devin Lord threw for 172 yards and 2 touchdowns and ran for 10 yards in the win.

Fans got a thrill when Lord and Hakim Montgomery connected against the Panthers. The connection went for 62 yards, the longest such play in AA Region 5 this season.

William Harris provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Jordan lost to Manchester. He completed 18 passes for 218 yards and also ran for 63 yards. Harris' favorite target this week was Javante West, who caught 9 passes for 118 yards.

Harris was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 63 yards on 11 carries as the Red Jackets lost to the Blue Devils. Romello Kimbrough also contributed to the rushing game with 15 yards on the ground.

Jordan's Harris and West have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Harris has thrown for 1,685 yards this season, while West has 64 catches for 1,001 yards. Christian Armstrong from the Tigers leads the league in rushing with 354 yards.

Heard County moved up to 87 from 117 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in AA Region 5. The Braves climbed the ranks as a result of besting Bowdon 42-19.
