Football Recap: Byrd Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Byrd played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by the Airline Vikings 48-17. The Yellow Jackets have struggled against the Vikings recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Byrd still got an impressive performance from Christian Maxie, who rushed for 197 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 9.0 yards per carry. Maxie's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 150 rushing yards.

Airline was led to victory by Chris Hart and Kenny Darby. Hart rushed for 45 yards and two touchdowns, while Darby gained 104 total yards and two touchdowns. Those 45 rushing yards gave Hart a new career-high. Chase Williams was another key player, having thrown for 253 yards.

Byrd's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Airline, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-3.

Looking ahead, Byrd will take on Captain Shreve at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Gators will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last. As for Airline, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Huntington at 7:00 p.m. The Vikings will be up against the Raiders' rather soft defense (which has allowed 42.22 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
