Top 25 Texas high school football playoff scores: North Shore beats Katy

Defending 6A Division 1 state champs, North Shore, get revenge on Katy beating them 56-35 to advance to state quarterfinals.

Three Texas games are featured in this week's slate.

In the biggest Texas playoff showdown No. 3 North Shore (Houston) knocked No. 2 Katy out of the postseason for the second consecutive year. The Tigers won the regular season matchup 24-21 but the Mustangs won the rematch 56-35 in the regional semifinal. 2021 Virginia Tech quarterback Dematrius Davis Jr. had nearly 500 yards of total offense and six touchdowns.

They will face No. 23 Atascocita (Humble) in the quarterfinals with a spot in the semifinals on the line. The Eagles took down No. 22 Tompkins (Katy) 42-24.

Another Top 10 Lone Star State matchup had No. 1 Duncanville taking on No. 7 Martin (Arlington) at AT&T Stadium. 2020 Texas commit Ja'Quinden Jackson led the Panthers to a dominant 45-17 win and will play either No. 4 Carroll (Southlake) or Midland Lee. They play Saturday at 5 p.m.



The three-time defending 5A Division 1 state champs No. 15 Highland Park (Dallas) had its chance for a four-peat ended losing in overtime to No. 14 Lone Star (Frisco). Sophomore quarterback Garret Rangel threw for 417 yards and three touchdowns with two of them going to 2020 Oklahoma commit Marvin Mims. Jaden Nixon scored on an 18-yard touchdown run to give the Rangers a 33-27 victory.
