Basketball Game Preview: New London Whalers vs. Crosby Bulldogs

Two dominant guards in Dashaun Phillips and Nevin Kinsey are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The New London Whalers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Crosby Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

New London is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They blew past Wilby 84-44. The Whalers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Crosby was able to grind out a solid victory over New Britain on Monday, taking the game 57-50.

Crosby's win came from a few key players New London will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Gerimiah Watson, who shot 46% from the field on his way to 16 points and seven boards. Rayquan Anderson was another key player, going 6-for-12 to rack up 15 points and eight rebounds.

Crosby smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 15 offensive boards in six consecutive contests.

Crosby has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.1 points over those games. New London's win bumped their record up to 20-4.

New London was able to grind out a solid victory over Crosby in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, winning 72-61. Does New London have another victory up their sleeve, or will Crosby turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
