Softball Recap: Vero Beach Wins Going Away Against Port St. Lucie

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Eau Gallie, Vero Beach was happy to have turned things around on Monday. Everything went their way against the Port St. Lucie Jaguars as the Vero Beach Indians made off with a 22-3 win. With that victory, the Indians brought their scoring average up to 8.2 runs per game.

Taylor Stevens tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Kylie Williams was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Crysaria Joseph, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Vero Beach always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win got Vero Beach back to even at 3-3. As for Port St. Lucie, their defeat was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-3.

Vero Beach has already played their next match, a 5-2 loss against Centennial on the 4th. As for Port St. Lucie, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 17-17 tie against Lincoln Park Academy on the 4th.
