Softball Recap: Fruitland Comes Up Short

Fruitland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 16-5 to the McCall-Donnelly Vandals. Surprisingly, this marked the Grizzlies' third straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Roxy Mason spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and 15 unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Reagan Noyes made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-4. Zoe Patrick was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Fruitland's loss dropped their record down to 9-15. As for McCall-Donnelly, with the victory, they broke their seven-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-21.

Fruitland wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 7-3 win against Payette on the 6th. As for McCall-Donnelly, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 24-0 defeat against Weiser on the 5th.
